  • Origin Of Fleet Gold Ring

This ring came into my collection from Sedwick Auction #18 in 2015. It’s described as high-grade gold, size 4 1/4, 4.18 grams, thick & sturdy finger-ring with seven-sided design of diamond-shaped panels engraved with a flower pattern. Similar rings from the fleet reside in various museums & have been published widely online etc. I’ve been attempting to research where & by whom this ring may have been made. My efforts to learn where the gold jewelry typically found on the wrecks of Spanish treasure ships was manufactured has yielded very little definitive information. I’ve read that China and/or the Philippines may have been sources for gold jewelry for Spanish trade.

Any information on this issue or suggestions for possible sources for further research would be greatly appreciated.
