Full date incomplete 1708 Mexico Eight Reales

Coin Description: Full date incomplete 1708 Mexico Eight Reales. 26.4 grams. Partial “OMJ”. Shield is well centered but only approximately 55% complete. The date is very clear and extremely well struck. The denomination “8” can also be seen along with the date and partial “OMJ” which is unusual for a cob coin. Regrettably the crown portion of the shield cannot be seen because of hammer marks. Nevertheless this is an exceptionally well centered obverse. Likewise the reverse shows a well centered cross which is 95% complete with well positioned and distinct lions and castles in all quadrants. Also note that part of the ordinal can be see on both the obverse and reverse which is, again, unusual.
