Coin Description: Full date 1714 Mexico Four Reales. 13.8 grams. Partial “OMJ” with the “O” and “M” partially obscured by the minting process. Close observation of the “O” and “M” reveal that either the die was poorly cut or the planchet “bounced” when being struck.Only the top portion of the “J” is visible. Hammer marks and surface cracks probably due to abnormal cooling visible on obverse. 40% of shield visible but flat. Reverse cross nicely centered and 80% complete. The castle in the lower right quadrant and lion in the lower left quadrant are nicely struck. The lion and castle in the upper quadrants are faintly visible.
