16th Cen­tury Ship­wreck Treas­ure Goes on Dis­play

A display of 16th Cen­tury treas­ure which includes gold coins from the wreck of the mer­chant ves­sel Ann Fran­cis has opened at the National Water­front Museum in Swansea.

On pub­lic dis­play for the first time, the dis­cov­ery tells the dra­matic story of treas­ure lost and found cen­tur­ies apart. The Ann Fran­cis was caught in a fero­cious storm and blown off course on the even­ing of 28 Decem­ber 1583 while return­ing from Spain and wrecked on Mar­gam beach.
