Hi everybody, I’m Alejandro Orozco from Seville, Spain. Just paid the lifetime membership dues today. If memory serves, I’m the only member from Spain, after an antiquarian and coin collector from Barcelona who joined some time ago.
I hold a BA in History and have always had an interest in the history of the Spanish Empire. Of course, the 1715 Fleet and its fabulous treasure, piracy and other such topics are also among my passions. I have taken part in archaeological excavations as well, but sadly no underwater excavations yet.
I’m eager to hear back from other fellow historians and archaeology enthusiasts here. If someone ever needs me to take a look at the file of the 1715 Fleet in the Archivo General de Indias, or simply to conduct research there, please let me know. The archive is just a stone’s throw away from home. Will try to meet other members in person at the next biennial conference, if funds allow.

Hello everyone,
My name is Brian Kurent and I am live in Bluffton, SC. I make the trek down to the treasure coast any storm (work permitting too) that allows me to come down and detect on the beaches for treasure. Very happy to become a member to expand my research and knowledge of the fleet. If anyone is ever up in the SC area and needing anything, let me know. I have a decently large amount of books and research done personally, but nothing compared to what is available here I would guess and what some of you have access to. Happy to be a member (# tdb)!

Hello everyone,
My name is Tim, and I’m excited to become a member of the 1715 Fleet Society. I joined with the hope of learning more about early Spanish American coinage, cobs, and the fascinating history that surrounds them.
I have always enjoyed research and history, and I find the stories behind these coins just as interesting as the coins themselves. While I am relatively new to coin collecting, I have quickly developed a deep appreciation for Spanish colonial numismatics and the wealth of knowledge that experienced collectors and researchers bring to the hobby.
Professionally, I am a retired U.S. Army veteran after 20 years of service. Today, I serve as a Regional Veteran Service Officer, helping veterans and their families connect with the benefits they have earned through their service.
One thing I wish I had done earlier in life is learn Spanish. I only speak English, but I have come to realize how valuable Spanish language skills can be when researching colonial-era records, documents, and numismatic references.
I look forward to learning from the members of this society, benefiting from your experience, and contributing where I can. Any advice for someone new to collecting Spanish colonial coins and cobs is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for welcoming me into the community, and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Best regards,
Tim
