Our featured treasure item for May is this 64 lb. bell metal ingot recovered by Rex Stocker of the Real Eight CompanyAlso referred to occasionally as “The Real 8 Company”- was incorporated in 1961. It had eight members….Kip Wagner, Kip Kelso, Dan Thompson, Harry Cannon, Lou Ullian, Del Long, Erv Taylor and Lis... at the Cabin Wreck site in 1964. Bell metal is a hard alloy consisting primarily of copper with a smaller percentage of tin and is used for making bells and related instruments. From our research, it appears that most if not all of these large ingots were recovered from the Cabin Wreck. Of those found, the majority reside in the State of Florida Collection.
