Part of our mission as the Fleet Society is to educate the public about the loss, rediscovery and recovery of the 1715 Fleet. Also, the story of the survivors is an integral component of the 1715 Fleet saga. Last night, I presented a program to the members of the George Washington Numismatic Association, here in Washington, Pa.
About 25 people attended the meeting. Fleet coinage and Spanish colonial mints were discussed. Coins were available for those in attendance to hold and examine up close and personal. A second lecture dealing with the survivors of the Fleet disaster and the hardships they endured is being planned for the Fall. Special thanks to Fleet Society member and President of the George Washington Numismatic Association, Tom Uram, for arranging the presentation. Below are some pictures of the event as taken by Tom Uram.
