Appraisal of Historical Artifacts

The following is an appraisal of Historical Artifacts and coins recovered from the area of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet wreck sites by Real Eight , Co., and later purchased by the present owner. This appraisal was prepared for income tax purposes by Scott N. Nierling, P.O. Box 177 Roseland, Fl 32957.

The items were examined and photo documented commencing November 7, 1993, at the home of the Owner, with final report presented to the Owner on December 13, 1993.

Scott N. Nierling is qualified to make this appraisal of property based on the following:

  1. He worked eight years for Salvors, Inc., a professional historical shipwreck salvage company, under the auspices of the State of Florida’s Division of Historical Resources. Mr. Nierling participated in the identification and appraisal of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet artifact assemblage, which involved tens of thousands of varied artifacts and coins. His work facilitated the annual donation to the State of Florida collection.
  2. American Numismatic Association Registration # R-156749.
  3. Board Member and the incumbent Vice President of the Treasure Coast Archaeological Society.
