The 1715 Fleet Society will be having a membership meeting following Day 1 of our scheduled lectures on Monday, October 31, 2022. The idea of a membership meeting was something that we planned for when the conference was originally designed. It took us a while to find a venue for the meeting as many of the restaurants and dining facilities were either closed on Monday, already scheduled, short staffed or would not plan for a group larger than twenty. Roberta Murray (member # 125) generously put forth her time and effort to help us find an available venue. She spent countless hours calling various restaurants to try to find an establishment that would accommodate our group.
We asked her to try to find a location that was very close to the Holiday Inn Oceanside where our conference is being held. In addition, we gave her a few other conditions, such as a reasonable price, a large menu, and easy parking, just to name a few. After much work, she submitted a number of prospects to the Board and we eventually chose Bonefish Grill, located at 2075 Indian River Blvd, in Vero Beach. It is about 2.7 miles from the Holiday Inn and is pretty accessible. There were a few others that we preferred but for reasons listed above they were not available so Bonefish was chosen.
The plan is to meet there at 6:00 p.m. on Monday night. They have a room that can accommodate 32 people. Not as much as we would have liked but more than most. Those attending can order from the menu and will be responsible for their own bill. We will put together an agenda which will be distributed at the conference. Please note that we already have 20 people signed up so if you would like to attend just send us an e-mail right away.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
