The sale featured over 300 gold coins and several gold artifacts including a 9 ½ ounce “Cast Gold Splash”. (NOTE: Lot # 5001 was previously featured as our Treasure of the Month for January 2020)
NOTE (added 02/17/25): Scholarship was not neglected in this sale. A five-page introduction to the Fleet coinage preceded the Mexican gold lots. A beautifully illustrated die study of the 1714 8 escudos begins on p.151. Bob Kower offered a similar die study of Fleet Santa Fe de Bogota 2 escudos beginning on p.169.
