This is the crown jewel in my treasure chest collection. An absolutely stunning specimen of a chest that is nearly 400 years old! These chests were made in Germany by the same blacksmiths that made the suits of armor and weaponry famous from the period. Their metalworking skills produced some of the most desirable pieces of the time, and these chests are no exception. Often times after they were manufactured, they would be sent to Holland to be painted with beautiful scenes of nature or floral designs.

When you think of treasure chests, allow the image of this iron beast to replace the notion of round-topped wooden trunks! These were the chests used by real pirates and powerful navies across the world to store their treasures.

NOTE: This chest weighs just over 200 lbs. empty and is completely made of wrought iron!
