May was an exciting month for the 1715 Fleet Society. We were contacted by two website visitors who have private collections of jewelry and other fleet related artifacts. These seldom seen items were made available to us for personal inspection. I made a trip to the Midwest last month to see one of these collections. The owner was most gracious and allowed me to take a number of photographs while providing background information through an interview. I am planning a second trip in July to complete the story which will appear in a later posting.
Also I am working on gathering information from a gentleman who called about a gold chain that he owns. The story about this chain is most interesting and even ties together with data that I found in Lou Ullian’s personal journal. With some luck we should a follow up to this story in the near future.
