Seamonster Maps
Ever since I posted Captain Redbeard’s example of a Seamonster Map (original post found here: https://1715fleetsociety.com/seamonster-map/) I have been in love with these delectable bits of obscure history! I never knew such things existed. I would LOVE to get my hands on an original (though I never will … cause you know, $$$) but even a replica would be AMAZING! As a creative person with an overactive imagination for all things scary with the potential to be real, imagining living in an era where these maps depicted creatures one may encounter in their sea travels would have been absolutely terrifying and intriguing to me at the same time! My fear of the ocean is deeply rooted in the vision of such creatures existing in the depths of the darkness — even in today’s world! Can you imagine?!
