Here is an interesting article published in the St. Lucie (Florida) Tribune from the turn of the century (not this century but the last century). It appears that an “old wreck” was found in 1905 by a fishing party not far from the Fort Pierce Inlet. The wreck was surmised to be “an old vessel of a past century.” The article refers to Captain O. N. Bie. Otto Norman Bie (b.1859 Norway – d. 1930 Tampa) was a Civil Engineer living in Tampa. He was called upon to investigate the mysterious wreck. To see what happened, I have included the original article below.
