Vero Beach, FL — The 1715 Fleet Society will be hosting its biennial Conference & Meeting at Indian River State College (IRSC) Mueller Campus in Vero Beach, Florida, January 12-14.
This year’s conference will kick off with a tour of the McClarty Treasure Museum on Sunday, January 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., hosted by Fleet Society members Richard Mellin (Member #230) and Mark Culver (Member #222). Admission is $2. Children under 6 are free.
Immediately following the museum tour, a Meet & Greet/Reception will be held at the Vero Beach Heritage Center, located at 2140 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event, catered by Wild Thyme Catering, is FREE and open to the public. Local community members are encouraged to bring in beach finds, coins, and artifacts to be examined by experts! We will have a number of vendors and authors available to sign books. These authors include Allen Balogh, John Brandon, Alex Kuze, Steve Singer, Noel Wells, and Charlie Winn. Major bookseller Alan Workman will have a wide array of shipwreck, treasure, and related books from his vast and impressive inventory. Steve Hodges and Noel Wells will be available to evaluate beach finds, coins, and artifacts that are brought in by the local community. Representatives from the Treasure Coast Coin Club and Mel Fisher’s Treasures (in Sebastian, Florida) will be present. Our Regional Director, Jim Wilson, will have videos for sale.
The three-day conference features guest speakers who will talk about coins, treasure, and other unique and notable discoveries related to the Florida Treasure Coast and beyond. The venue, 16,000-sq-ft Richardson Center at Indian River State College (IRSC) Mueller Campus, is located at 6155 College Lane, in Vero Beach. Each day begins with a continental breakfast that will be served to all attendees at 7:30 a.m. Opening remarks begin at 8:30 a.m., and programs commence at 9:00 a.m. sharp. The agenda will run until 5:00 p.m. each day. The cost per ticket is $375.00 for non-members and $335.00 for members. Individual Day Passes are available for $150.00.
