Remember the people aboard the S.S. Central America’s final journey by joining 10 Tumultuous Years in a moment of reflection this weekend, honoring the 425 passengers and crew members whose lives were lost and the 153 men, women, and children who were rescued and whose lives were changed forever.

According to Bob’s remembrance letter of September 12, 2025:
“The greatest lost treasure in United States history had its genesis in an appalling disaster. The stories of the survivors ultimately led us to the incredible treasure. I feel an ethical burden to share the story of the people who survived the sinking. I invite you to pause ( today) in commemoration.”
Bob Evans was the Chief Scientist and Historian responsible for the co-discovery, recovery, and curating of the treasures found 7,200 feet below sea level.
