The Legacy of the Titanic Continues to Mystify

As a follow-up to our post “Titanic Memorial Story”, we came across yet another fantastic twist of history linking the Titanic tragedy to modern times. Stockton Rush was the CEO of OceanGate Expeditions. Stockton Rush was one of five passengers who died in a submersible that was on its way to the Titanic wreck site. He was married to Wendy Rush who is a descendant of Isidor and Ida Straus who both died ON THE TITANIC! She was their great-great-granddaughter. Strange how the Titanic story continues to reach out to touch us after all this time. Imagine the odds.

Read the story HERE.

P.S. Another interesting coincidence was shared:

As most who have been following recent events are already well aware, I’m sure that you have read/heard that Wendy Rush, the wife of OceanGate founder and CEO Stockton Rush is a blood relative of some of the ill fated passengers of the original Titanic voyage. Specifically, Mrs. Rush is the great-great granddaughter of Isidor and Ida Strauss. I won’t go into too much detail about them as this is all well documented, but on to the part I found to be eerily ironic and therefore of some personal interest.

Of the 2,000 plus souls who boarded the Titanic, only one had a name in common with me! While I have, to date, found no record of relation one way or the other, a Mr. John Farthing perished on the Titanic. Mr. Farthing was in the employ of, and traveling with, the aforesaid great-great grandparents of Mrs. Rush! So while it is not a direct correlation and there may or may not be any relation to myself and the late Mr. John Farthing, I can’t help but find it interesting that of all the people who were aboard the Titanic, the one person with whom I share a name should be so closely related to this newly unfolding chapter of the tragic history of The Titanic!
