Vero Beach, a small city along the Florida coast with 26 miles of beaches, is the No. 1 trending destination for U.S. travelers, according to a new report from Skyscanner based on user search data.
Released in October 2026, Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2027 report found that searches for round-trip flights to Vero Beach increased by over 200 percent from the previous year. The travel search engine compared data between January and June 2026 to the same period in 2025. The Florida beach town is situated along the coast between St. Augustine and Miami and is a haven for golf, fishing, and water sports. The beaches are plentiful and uncrowded, and the climate is tropical and humid.
According to Skyscanner, the significant interest in Vero Beach shows that travelers are interested in booking trips that are affordable and don’t require a long journey, but still offer an escape.
“Travel is entering a new era,” said Bryan Batista, CEO of Skyscanner, in a release shared with Travel + Leisure. “We’re seeing travelers become more intentional about how they spend their time and money, from where they go and how they book to what they want to get out of a trip. They’re prioritizing meaningful experiences over material things.”
Vero Beach is a small city, with fewer than 18,000 residents, and a building code that prioritizes “sunrises, not high-rises,” with no buildings allowed to be over four-stories.
