The wreck of a royal treasure ship that sank in the Forth carrying treasure worth “hundreds of millions” has been found after a decades-long search, according to a new report.
The Blessing of Burntisland sank off the Fife coast during a violent storm in 1633 while carrying King Charles I’s possessions after he had been crowned King of Scotland in Edinburgh.
It is believed to contain a fabled 280-piece silver dining service commissioned by King Henry VIII as well as other royal possessions, which today could be worth more than £1billion.
