On Wednesday, January 6, 1965 this story appeared in The Miami Herald:
The Florida United Numismatists convention in Miami Beach is featuring an exhibit of rare coins recently recovered from a 1715 Fleet wreck site off the east coast of Florida. The collection of coins is estimated to be worth $2,000,000.00 and $80,000,000.00. The convention is being held at the Deauville Hotel where the coins will be exhibited. W. Frank Allen, an Orlando History teacher and coin dealer, was instrumental in arranging the exhibit. This was the first public showing of Spanish coins recovered by a salvage company from a Spanish wreck near Fort Pierce. Allen is reported to have one of the finest collections of Spanish gold in the world.
