The Treasure of the Month for August is a display featuring silver coins and other artifacts from the State of Florida Collection. In the picture above are numerous silver coins, silver wedges, and ballast stones. To the far right is a clump of coins fused together by the action of sea water on the silver. This magnificent exhibit can be seen at the Museum of Florida History, located in Tallahassee. In addition to the items featured above, the Museum of Florida History showcases many gold coins, reliquary items, jewelry and other objects recovered from the wreckage of the 1715 Fleet.
