In our prior post of March 8, 2016, we indicated that the Fleet Society intended to host a dinner at Flagler College on the evening of Saturday, March 18, 2017. It was also noted that we were in discussions with Flagler College to see if arrangements could be made to have the dinner there. Just recently, we received confirmation that the dinner can indeed be hosted at Flagler. The exact details of the dinner are being worked out. I can say that the tentative schedule would be for the cocktail hour to begin at 5 pm followed by a brief greeting at 6 pm with dinner thereafter. Obviously this is very tentative and more information will be forthcoming. Also, I am very pleased that Fleet Society member, Linda Ullian-Schmid, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and daughter of the late Real 8 member, Lou UllianLouis J. (Lou) Ullian (1932 – 2010) Was a diver and original member of the Real Eight Company. A native of Worcester, Massachusetts he served in the U.S. Navy, Naval Weapons Station from 1956 – 19..., has volunteered to work on the menu as well as with marketing.
Additionally, Fleet Society Director, Phil Flemming, who serves as our Academic Coordinator, has been diligently working on the 2017 Seminar Agenda, which promises to be a showcase of educational talent. There is still much work to be done in this regard, but as soon as Phil has confirmed the attendance of those that he has invited to participate in the Seminar he will provide everyone with a tentative Seminar Agenda. We will continue to keep everyone posted in this regard.
