Greetings Fleet Society members,
I had a very interesting day. I met up and spent some time with Dan Sedwick at his table. Dan has been a long-time supporter of the Society. He has an auction coming up in November and we talked about some of the things that will be up for sale.
I also spent a good deal of time with Rusell Augustine of Willowbrook, IL — a relatively new member who joined in August of last year. Russell had a wonderful display of S.S. Central America coins and coins from other shipwrecks. I always learn a lot from him regarding the coins recovered from these various shipwrecks. Today was no different.
Most of the rest of the day was spent viewing exhibits and attending some lectures. In the evening, I was invited to attend the Tokens & Medals Society Banquet at Gibson’s Restaurant across the street from the convention center. While there, I ran into Fred Holabird of Reno, NV — a long-time friend. Fred was instrumental in arranging the sale of S.S. Central America artifacts in 2022 and 2023.
Tomorrow I have an 8:00 a.m. Board of Governors meeting. I will report back on my experiences tomorrow.
