1715 Fleet Society Treasure of the Month November 2015

1715 Fleet Society Treasure of the Month November 2015

The Treasure of the Month for November is this spectacular gold manicure set. Consisting of a toothpick, ear spoon, and grooming tool, this set is of high carat gold, around 22 – 23 kt, and is unique. Clearly the property of a wealthy individual, it is one of several manicure sets recovered over the years from 1715 Fleet wreck sites.

Found by original Real Eight member, Lou Ullian, it is pedigreed to the great Thanksgiving Day storm of 1984. This intense storm, unusually strong and well-defined, caused much beach erosion. As a result, a number of gold coins and other significant artifacts were found.

Our featured treasure resides in a private collection.
